Ángelo Néstore
Poet and multidisciplinary artist
A poet born in Lecce, Italy, acquired Spanish nationality and has been residing in the city of Malaga since 2005.
His work is characterized by an exploration of identity, sexuality, and memory, and extends across different genres and media, including poetry, essays, theater, and performance. In addition to being a prolific and award-winning writer, he also stands out for his commitment to literature. He is the founder and creator of the Letraversal editorial label, a specialized publishing house in Spanish poetry, and co-directs the Irreconciliables International Poetry Festival of Malaga, a festival that promotes poetry as a means of artistic and cultural expression.
Néstore is also an activist in the field of LGBT+ rights and has participated in various initiatives and projects to promote equality and diversity. In his work, Néstore explores the complexity and diversity of sexual and gender identities and addresses issues such as bullying, violence, and discrimination. He is an active voice in the Spanish cultural scene, contributing as a columnist in national newspapers such as Público and collaborating in cultural TV programs such as Página Dos on La2. His work and commitment to literature have made him an important figure in the Spanish and international poetry scene.
Throughout his career, Néstore has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the National Young Poetry Award “Miguel Hernández” in 2006, the Critics’ Award of the Valencian Community in 2016, and the recent and prestigious Espasa Poetry Award of 2022 for “Deseo de ser árbol”. His work has been translated into several languages, including Chinese, English, French, and Italian, and has been the subject of studies and critical analysis in various countries.
